Seasonal Services

The seasons of the church year influence our worship at FPC Alabaster, but there are specific times that they also affect our teaching ministry. Particularly, we offer courses of study during Advent and Lent that specifically prepare us to understand and celebrate those seasons more effectively. These times of study, conversation, and fellowship deepen our relationships as sisters and brothers in Christ and give us the chance to continue our maturity as followers of Jesus.

Advent studies prepare us to rightly celebrate the gift of the Christ child to the world. We are challenged to understand how God is at work and what God purposes for humanity and creation through the coming of the Lord Jesus. In 2020,  Advent starts November 29. We have four weeks in the Advent Season – Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love.

Lenten studies focus on understanding the context of Jesus’ life and death. Through our examination of Jesus’ actions and words we are better able to incorporate Jesus’ teaching into our own lives and embrace what it means for Jesus to be both our Savior and our Lord. In 2020 Lent will begin on  February 26. That evening we will have an Ash Wednesday Service at 6:30 pm for any who wish to attend.
