According to old records of the church, Elliottsville was organized sometime prior to 1851. The church was first known as the Henry Ewing church, which was a name the congregation held until 1897, when it changed it's name to Elliottsville. [1]
On September 1857, Mr. C.B. Elliott and Wm. Leonard made a deed to A.J. Cross[2], Jr., G.W. Harris, and J.T. Allen, ruling elders of the Henry Ewing church, and their successors. The congregation was deeded one square acre of land on the east side of the Cahaba Valley Road and worship services were held in a log building.
In 1942, The old building was torn down and some of the material was used in the construction of a new building which was erected just back and east of the old church.
In 1952 some additional Sunday School rooms were built under the guidance of Pastor, Rev. C.E. Bishop. That year, the cost to add 2 new Sunday School rooms and an entrance was $1,507.05.[3]
A fellowship hall was constructed in 1965, The sanctuary was remodeled in 1972, and an educational building built in 1973. The Ed building was remodeled again in 1983. A new sanctuary was built in 1989 and the old sanctuary was turned into a chapel and the pastor's office. Some of the building material in the chapel is from the 1897 building.
