ImageStarting on Wednesday, March 2nd we will begin our lenten study of J. Ellsworth Kalas' book, Seven Words to the Cross. A sign - up sheet will be available in the narthex. We had originally planned to start the study on Wednesday, the 16th, however, the book company was unable to get the books in their inventory to get them sent out. So, we had to move our study back fro two weeks. We will still wrap this study up by the end of March and be prepared to move into our next topic of study by the second week of April.

Our confirmation class has gotten off to a good start. We have three people attending the classes on Sunday afternoon. They are Chandler Davenport, Joseph Gillis, and Christian Orso. If Sunday past is any indication, this group will be moving forward quickly in their study and grasp of discipleship and church membership. Please pray daily for them as they have set aside their normal Sunday afternoon activities to pursue their calling as followers of Jesus.

It's hard to believe that the season of Lent is already here and Easter is peeking around the corner. But, let's not be in a hurry to get to the empty tomb. The season of Lent and the week of Christ's passion offers ample opportunities for us to discover more about who we are and what we are called to do. They, too, are re - creative. I hope that you will make yourself available to reflect, study, and pray during this time of examination.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Mark

On a personal note, your pastor and Tracy will be out of town February 24 - 27th for a short anniversary trip. We look forward to the time away from the routine of every day activity. Immediately upon my return I will have to make a trip back to Memphis. As a member of the General Assembly's Commission on the Ministry, I have to help conduct interviews to fill the position of Director of the Commission. It is important work in the life of the denomination, and I am thankful for your understanding as I fulfill some of my responsibilities as a presbyter.
