In a little less than a month, a group from 1st Presbyterian will be traveling to Gainesville, FL to attend the LOGOS Leadership Training School. This is an important event in the life of our church. The LOGOS program is a comprehensive approach to children and youth ministry. It incorporates bible study, recreation, music/worship, and dinner time in a weekly setting. LOGOS involves the entire congregation, in greater and lesser ways to nurture and grow the children and youth of the church into disciples.
I mention this to you because it is essential for the congregation to embrace the responsibility that we have to grow our young people. It is essential for the congregation to take seriously the promises we make when our children are baptized. Sometimes, it can seem difficult to find places and opportunities for the broader scope pf the congregation to live out these promises. LOGOS offers such a place and such an opportunity.
Please begin to pray for our people who attend the LOGOS School. Begin to pray for the church as we receive their report and start to have a vision about how we can more effectively minister to and with our youth and children. LOGOS will provide ample opportunity for every person who wants to be involved in nurturing young disciples.
If we want to make a difference in the lives of our children, then we adults have to commit our time, our money, and our lives to that purpose. No purpose is more important. No activity is more important. Teaching our children that the church is first begins when they see us making the church first. Ultimately, that is the commitment that the LOGOS program asks churches to make. Let us choose wisely.
Grace and peace,
