This week I sound out an expression of deep gratitude to the members of the session and the diaconate. This congregation is served by dedicated, talented, called people of God. As we spent the first part of this past weekend together at our leadership retreat, I watched their hard work and their determined focus during the session meeting and the workshop that lasted all day Saturday.

I left the 4-H Camp with a renewed sense of purpose that finds much of its genesis in the love and commitment the elders and deacons expressed. We have much to accomplish and we have much left to build and grow in the ministry of First Presbyterian, but I have no doubt that the people you have called and elected to serve you as deacons and elders will live up to their part of the work that is required.

The names of the elders and deacons are listed in the bulletin. Read those names. Find those people in worship and let them know how much you appreciate their work and their commitment and their unending dedication to the work of God in this place and at this time.

This church is wonderfully blessed by the abundant talent of many. Let us be mindful to speak our appreciation to those who serve ? not because they seek our appreciation ? but because it is the proper response of graciousness on our behalf for the ways God?s grace is expressed through their service.

May God continue to call people and equip people for the continued growth of God?s kingdom.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Mark
